Seed copies are not backups

A second notebook is a copy. A backup, in Datalink Core’s teaching vocabulary, is a copy you have restored from on a schedule you can show.

Inventory first

List every place a phrase or encrypted export lives. Photos in cloud albums, password managers, and “temporary” USB sticks count. Wallet Backup Rotation Monitor cannot track what you refuse to name.

Restore is the difference

Module 3 of Rotation Discipline Lab asks for a timed restore on a spare or wiped device. Learners often find handwriting errors, missing passphrases, or device menus they had never practiced. That discovery is the point.

Retire duplicates on purpose

Extra copies without owners become risk. Retire them with a dated note instead of leaving “maybe useful” media in drawers.
